The old Buttery homestead, tucked away on a panhandle, is a green enclave providing refuge to those who live in its garden and those who work and live in the rest of the spaces. Margaret and Pieter Burger’s shared passion is indigenous plants and all things botanical. The planted garden is 20 years old with original coastal Ficus burkei specimens in the back yard; 2 of which have very recently succumbed to the heavy rains Durban is experiencing.
